Bunnen forut er forsterket, slik at det er mulig å gå inn i fjæren eller til kai med begrenset vanndybde og stå «safe aground»

En kran kan svinges rett forover, kan strekkes 12 m fremfor baugen og benyttes til å laste og losse. IST FOB JR. kan også brukes som «feeder» fartøy, og frakte 16 20-fots containere,

Fartøyet er godt egnet til de fleste dykkeroppdrag, og med joystick, DP og 3D ekkolodd kan rør og andre gjenstander på havbunnen inspiseres. Utlegg av kabel kan utføres ved å plassere kabeltrommel og ledehjul med vinsj på lastedekket., kan også benyttes i supplytjeneste, enten alene eller som tilleggsfartøy.
